Golder has fully equipped geosynthetics and geotechnical laboratories that test materials quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively.

The geosynthetic laboratory can test for the mechanical and physical characteristics of seamed and unseamed geomembrane, geotextile, geonet, geocomposites, geogrid, and geosynthetic clay liner materials. As an example of our capability, we can test 100 geomembrane seam destructive samples in a normal business day. Our geosynthetics lab is accredited by the Geosynthetic Accreditation Institute, a division of Geosynthetic Institute (GSI), to conduct more than 40 ASTM tests, as indicated in the list to the right.
Golder Associates offers a broad range of geophysical services to the aggregate industry. Geophysics can be extremely cost-effective in developing resource and reserve estimates for pit and quarry operations. The survey data is processed by our geophysicists using state of the art software.

HydroGéo Plus has provided multidisciplinary and up-to-date GEOCHEMISTRY expertise.

They specialize in the fields of environmental hydrogeology, microbiology, geology, geochemistry, and numerical modelling on in situ remediation projects. The firm maintains close ties with universities and research organisations. Its clients include major oil and gas and manufacturing companies. In the 1980s the company developed its groundwater expertise into the broader field of hydrogeology, and in particular, contaminated soil and groundwater.

Environmental issues included investigating wetlands and irrigation return flows for presence of endangered species such as Chinook salmon and steelhead.  Golder delineated wetlands and conducted fish studies (snorkeling and electro-shocking) to determine the presence of fish, while also examining waterfowl breeding, endangered plant species, cultural resources, water quality, and hydrogeology.
Golder Associates provides aggregate and materials testing at our own laboratories. The laboratories are equipped for the testing of most construction materials including asphalt, concrete, aggregate, soil, masonry and other related construction materials.

The materials testing of bituminous materials is performed to applicable requirements and guidelines. Golder ensures that correct procedures and competent engineers and technicians perform the tests and analyses.
Golder Associates recognizes the increasing complexity of the aggregate industry, and the need to use risk assessment and decision analysis to assist with planning and prediction of future trends within this industry. This can necessitate complex decision making processes with respect to regulatory approvals, development of a green-field site, expansion of an existing site, operational considerations, different management and mining concepts, as well as assessment of financial risks associated with new business ventures.
Slope Stability Analysis - We have analyzed soil and rock slopes using thermal modeling and in situ instrumentation.

We have carried out numerous field investigations involving drilling and sampling, slope stability geophysical surveys, air photo interpretation, waste sampling, and well installation.

Our design studies include cost estimating and producing plans and specifications for thermal stabilization of embankments and slopes, underpinning for addition of basements, slope stability, and replacement of hybrid pipeline supports.
Golder provides specialty remedial contracting services.  Our in-situ remedial technologies have been deployed at landfills, hazardous waste storage facilities, fuel handling and storage complexes and manufacturing plants. 

At landfills, we construct gas extraction and treatment systems, and leachate and/or groundwater extraction and treatment systems.
