LVDT

LVDT installations require a connecting rod between the LVDT core and the object whose motion is being measured. These connecting rods are fabricated from non-magnetic stainless steel to prevent distortion of the
LVDT’s magnetic field. Manufactured from AISI 300 Series stainless steel, core connecting rods are threaded end to end. (Consult factory
for available lengths and sizes.)

The PSD 4-15 DC LVDT power supply is designed to work with all of Schaevitz® DC powered LVDTs. The module will operate on either a 115 VAC or 230 VAC input at 47 to 63 Hz. The PSD 4-15 provides the necessary 15 VDC excitation to operate as many as four DC-EC or HCD Series LVDTs, as well as GCD Series gage heads or DC powered Schaevitz® RVDTs (see rotary section) or pressure transducers (see pressure section) that require a 15 VDC input. The rugged, compact design can be chassis mounted and features a DIN standard rail mount for secure installation in most industrial environments. In addition, the PSD 4-15 is UL, VDE and cUL approved and CE certified.

The economical E series of LVDTs satisfies numerous
applications where LVDT performance and reliability are
desired, but where budgets are limited. Linearity is 0.5%
of full-range for all units except long-stroke models. The E series is particularly suitable for moderate operating temperatures. Its rugged construction will resist the
shocks and vibrations encountered in most industrial
applications. The E series is housed in magnetic stainless
steel for protection against electromagnetic and
electrostatic interference.
Flexibility and increasing cost pressures have been an important topic

assembly processes and the automation of test rigs. This situation
forces companies involved in plant and equipment construction to use as
many rationalisation measures as possible. Development in the field bus

The favourable price/performance ratio extends the possible
applications on the manufacture of a tilt transducer. The high accuracy of
the DMP40 enables the quality of these products to be improved still
further. HBM has 50 years experience of its own tilt transducer production
and this has of course been used in the development of the DMP40. In
the scientific field and in the production of high precision elements,
very small changes at high static loads are frequently measured. Here
an example is the production of silicon monocrystals. With up to 16th
order filters present in the DMP40, these measurement problems can be
solved in a very practicable manner. The four limit switches and the
eight remote control contacts enable the amplifier to operate
autonomously without manual intervention.


The DMP40 Digital Precision Measuring Amplifier is designed for
measurement with a tilt transducer operating on the strain-gauge principle.
The amplifier provides stable resolution of a 2mV/V transducer signal
in 1m digits. With an accuracy class of 0.0005/0.0050 the DMP40 is the
most accurate measurement instrument available for strain-gauge
measurements and can be rightly called 'the ultimate measurement tool'.
This technological breakthrough was only possible using the patented
analogue to digital converter (ADC) from HBM: The connected tilt transducer
is excited with a 225Hz carrier frequency to give interference
immunity, zero point stability and a steady display. Any tilt transducer
is connected simultaneously to the bridge excitation voltage. This has
the advantage that measurements can take place with the full accuracy
immediately after the measuring point is selected.
Model SP420 Pressure Sensor is a rugged, two-wire pressure transmitter
which operates from supply voltages of 14 to 32 VDC. It utilizes a
silicon strain gauge bridge bonded to a flat diaphram to measure
pressure-induced deflections. The weld-sealed pressure cavity is 17-4
PH stainless steel, making the unit ideal for use with corrosive fluids
under most environmental conditions.

The Adtech Model SGT 90 Strain Gauge pressure transmitter provides an
accurate and economical way to convert a wide variety of primary
element strain gauge transducers to a standard process current or
voltage signal output with a maximum of 10 mV P/P output ripple.
Excitation power for the bridge is provided by the SGT 90 pressure
transmitter as a standard feature and may be precisely controlled by
the use of remote sensing at the bridge terminals.
A hybrid track potentiometer features a high wiper contact resistance,
therefore operational checks should be carried out only in the voltage
divider mode. A Hybrid track potentiometer should be used only as a
voltage divider, with a minimum wiper circuit impedance of 100 x track
resistance or 0.5M (whichever is greater). Operation with wiper
circuits of lower impedance will degrade the output smoothness and
affect the linearity. For variable resistor applications, only a Penny
& Giles wirewound potentiometer should be used.

Penny+Giles SLS 220 linear displacement sensors have a 10mm or 20mm
stroke range with spring loaded operation, a mounting flange to allow
easy installation and are contained within a high strength Nylatron®
housing which provides good chemical resistance and low weight. The
internal potentiometer assembly is protected to IP66. Suited to OEM and
process monitoring applications, this new sensor replaces Penny+Giles
HLP 220 model.

Powerful alarm facilities provide two alert and alarm levels for each
analog channel. In addition to viewing alarm status on the real-time
screen, email messages are automatically generated when an alert or
alarm occurs. Different emails are sent for alarms and alerts, each
with user-defined message and recipients, and include a current
real-time data logger for each channel.
Accelerometers consist of a micro machined silicon mass suspended
by mulitple beams from a silicon frame. Piezoresistors located in
the beams change their resistance as the motion of the suspended mass changes
the strain in the beams. Silicon caps on the top and bottom of the

Biaxial inclination OEM sensors use 2 pieces of basic cells. The sensor
works in the way that an electrolytical fluid is formed out by applying
an AC-voltage on the planar electrode structures. By tilting the
sensor, the fluid level over the different electrodes and in
consequence the conductance of the stray field changes. Using a
difference measurement principle, the tilt angle and the tilt direction
can be measured. With a special electrode and circuit design the
temperature coefficient is almost completely compensated.

The Massa Ultrasonic Ranging Module is a precision electronic
measurement device which includes an interface electronics module and
one or two ultrasonic transducers, depending on the model selected. The
Ultrasonic Ranging Module provides the OEM sensors market with a PWMLATCH output
pulse, whose duration is proportional to the time required for the
sound to travel between the transmit and receive transducers. The LATCH

Strain measurements in increased temperatures on weldable components, on which - due to their size - strain gage application with hot curing adhesive is not possible. Schaevitz® P1400 Series Strain Gauge Pressure Transducers are sensors
that provide highly precise measurement of wet/dry differential pressures over wide temperature ranges. Standard versions of this transducer use a 17-4 pH stainless steel diaphragm to sense pressure.
The deflection of the diaphragm is transferred to a double cantilever beam by a force transfer rod. Strain in the beam, and therefore, input pressure is measured by four foil strain gauges.

research: plant supervision and process monitoring, motive power
engineering and materials handling technology, test bench technology,
